Treatment
All you need to know about coming to see me
How long is the appointment?
A full hour is available to every patient whether baby or adult, new or returning.
What should I wear?
It is helpful for me in assessing your posture and movement if I am able to see some of the structure of your body, so if you are happy to change down to underwear or want to bring shorts and a vest top, that’s great and your privacy will be respected at all times. If you prefer to stay fully clothed that’s fine too, just plan to have some loose light clothing with you.
What happens during the appointment?
First we’ll discuss your concerns and your past and current health.
Then when you are ready, I will ask you to make some simple test movements standing, sitting and lying down if you can and we will also carry out any other tests such as reflexes which might be useful for diagnosis.
Once we have discussed what I have found and how I suggest we treat it, with your consent and understanding, we’ll use gentle hands-on techniques to improve how you function.
In my experience people benefit greatly from understanding why and how injuries and discomfort arise, so we will discuss small changes you may make to speed your recovery and I will teach you some brief and simple personalised exercises to help you release and re-balance your body.
You are welcome to bring someone with you to your appointment if you wish. Children under the age of 16 always need to be accompanied by a parent or carer.
If I think you need to be referred to another medical practitioner for further investigations then with your consent I will contact your GP and explain my findings and reason for referral.
